Mr. Tilney’s Proposal

On a path littered with white rose petals, Henry Tilney professed his love and devotion to Catherine Morland, the beloved heroine of Northanger Abbey. The love story of Catherine and Henry inspired this white rose scented artisan soap bar.

“His first purpose was to explain himself, and before they reached Mr. Allen’s grounds he had done it so well that Catherine did not think it could ever be repeated too often. She was assured of his affection.” ~Northanger Abbey, by Jane Austen

Why white rose, when Jane Austen herself forgot to write that little detail? Besides our adoration of white roses and feeling inspired to use that fragrance, we drew a little inspiration from two film adaptations. In the 2007 film adaptation, Mr. Tilney proposes alongside a row of bushes, which we like to think of as white rose bushes. And of course there is a white rose bush mentioned during the proposal of the 1986 adaptation as well! (“Since you left us the white rose bush has died of grief.”)

So pretty – looks like a slice of wedding cake, and the dried flowers are secured really well, no crumbling off the top of the soap. Another winner!

Second order of this one…I was happy to give this as a gift, but only after I made sure I got a bar for myself, ha! Beautiful.

  3. Kristy Burns

It’s adorable and smells so good!!!

Swoon! Another one I wanted to keep for myself, but it was specifically purchased as a gift. I love his humor and the scent and style of the soap just perfectly showcase the quote and scene!

One of my first Northanger soaps. I couldn’t believe how long it lasted. A lovely, light scent that left my hands much softer than the liquid soap I had been using.

It smells heavenly and is not overpowering at all. It leaves my skin super soft and again the scent is subtle and feminine.
