Black Sheep

(1 customer review)

These spicy scented vanilla anise sheep might have been witness to many a great love story, roaming about on Mr. Knightley’s estate. Indeed, these black sheep might just be up to no good, rambling about in secret! A few are hoping to spook a few shepherds too as Halloween approaches:)

Sheep are what you might call omnipresent in Jane Austen’s era. In the pasture, on the road,  everywhere! Naturally, they belong in our shop too. Jane Austen wrote about sheep with regard to the estates of Kellynch Hall (Persuasion) and Donwell Abbey (Emma), and Jane Austen’s own father kept sheep as well.

“Why should he marry?—He is as happy as possible by himself; with his farm, and his sheep, and his library.” ~regarding Mr. Knightley of Emma, by Jane Austen

The smell of that soap is so wonderful and lasts to even the final bits, and my skin doesn’t dry out from it.
