The Moody Duchess is a one of a kind soap collection inspired by the words of Jane Austen. It features four 2-oz soaps, each reflecting a different mood and matching fragrance. We chose adjectives directly from the text that are particularly well associated with her writing and the era. We hope you find them amusing!
Amiable: rose geranium in lavender / for everyday
Impertinent: sassy lemon in yellow / for daring moments
Vexed: vanilla citrus in red / for soothing your poor nerves
Wanton: violet and musk in green / for seduction or giggles!

“I love him. Indeed he has no improper pride. He is perfectly amiable. You do not know what he really is.” ~Pride and Prejudice⠀
“Now be sincere; did you admire me for my impertinence?” ~Elizabeth to Darcy, Pride and Prejudice.
“Mr. Bennet, how can you abuse your own children in such a way? You take delight in vexing me. You have no compassion for my poor nerves.” ~Mrs. Bennet, Pride and Prejudice.
“We are not boy and girl, to be captiously irritable, misled by every moment’s inadvertence, and wantonly playing with our own happiness.” ~Persuasion. Please note: A liberty has been taken in the usage of the word *wanton* as applies to this soap set. Jane Austen often used the word according to its first definition–meaning cruel. But the secondary definition of sexy, shameless, or lustful was so humorous when considering it against a modern woman, and as it is used in at least one Jane Austen film adaptation I went ahead and used it. My husband thought it a great addition so there we are.
