On a path littered with white rose petals, Henry Tilney professed his love and devotion to Catherine Morland, the beloved heroine of Northanger Abbey. The love story of Catherine and Henry inspired this white rose scented artisan soap bar.

Why white rose, when Jane Austen herself forgot to write that little detail? Besides our adoration of white roses and feeling inspired to use that fragrance, we drew a little inspiration from two film adaptations. In the 2007 film adaptation, Mr. Tilney proposes alongside a row of bushes, which we like to think of as white rose bushes. And of course there is a white rose bush mentioned during the proposal of the 1986 adaptation as well! (“Since you left us the white rose bush has died of grief.”)

Handmade in small batches with gentle, moisturizing ingredients. It is made from a saponified blend of lard, olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil, and castor oil, with fragrance oil, jasmine flowers, colorant, and rosemary oleoresin. Net weight 4 oz (113 g).

All our soaps are elegantly wrapped in handmade lokta paper and boxed with care in historical Jane Austen style with a stamped wax seal, tissue paper, and muslin. (Learn more here.) They are perfect for gift giving and may also be shipped directly to the recipient with an optional hand-written gift message. So pretty and feminine smelling, and I love that it’s a light hint of Rose. I really like using this soap for my daily face wash, knowing the ingredients. It does a great job keeping my skin clean, just throw on some moisturizer, and voila!
