In Want of a Wife

The Bennet household is in uproar! Two wealthy single gentleman have arrived at Netherfield Park. (No more coughing, Kitty! A lady never coughs.) They can have no other object in coming but to be looking for brides, you know.

In Want of a Wife bar soap is inspired by the first sentence in Pride and Prejudice. The scent is sandalwood and vetiver and is quite alluring.

“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.” ~ Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen

Shelves in the Closet

A bar soap made to look like a closet? Naturally! This rosemary and mint soap is inspired by Mr. Collins and his beloved shelves in the closet, made famous by the scene in 1995 Pride and Prejudice.

Shelves in the closet is quite the joke among Jane Austen lovers. This bar soap is made to look similar to shelves in the closet and smell like Mr. Collins's rosemary and mint herb garden drifting in through the window. A favorite scene in Pride and Prejudice 1995 involves the serious Mr. Collins earnestly telling Elizabeth Bennet about his shelves in the closet. Her interest in the subject was fierce, naturally, and the reverence with which Mr. Collins discusses Lady Catherine's shelving advice is positively hilarious. With turmeric for color and cocoa lines for the shelves, think of all the dresses you could put in that tiny closet! Lady Catherine would be very impressed if she ever saw it.

"She [...] had once paid him a visit in his humble parsonage, where she had perfectly approved all the alterations he had been making, and had even vouchsafed to suggest some herself—some shelves in the closet up stairs.”
~Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice, regarding the Right Honorable Lady Catherine de Bourgh and Mr. Collins.

"Shelves in the Closet? Happy thought indeed!"
~Elizabeth Bennet, Pride and Prejudice 1995 film.

Do yourself a favor and watch this scene to get the full experience!
